I think I need to call in my old friends Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden: my new year’s resolutions post has completely dissapeared. On the upside, since all records of my resolutions have vanished I may not be accountable for keeping them.

I am having difficulty uploading images to WordPress (the program freezes every time) so I have to upload them to Flickr and then send them here. I can only send one image per entry, but I wanted to show how the back of this jacket looked because it really is nice.
Here’s Jane (or Harriet, or Betty)

Meet my new dressform–a present from Mr. GC. She’s been padded out and looks a lot like me (needs more work in the rear, but general dimensions are similar).
I haven’t decided on a name yet. My first thought was Betty, but Harriet and Jane have come to mind.
No-name is wearing a jacket I finished last week made from Onion 1032 out of a multi-colored heavy organic cotton knit I bought nearly 5 years ago. It’s hard to see from the photo, but there are vertical darts in the front. The back has 5 vertical darts. There are also ties that attach to the front darts; in this photo they cross the front and are tied in the back, but I generally tie them in the front. The best thing about this pattern: aside from tracing out to a larger size at the hips I had to make no alterations to this pattern. None. Even the darts were perfect. I absolutely love this jacket–perfect for jeans or cords (although it looks horrible with a full skirt). If I were to make this out of a different (dressier, finer, or less colorful) fabric I would consider making the double ties in the front because it would look a little bit tidier that way. I did self ties as ribbon ties would not look right with this casual fabric and the ties are fairly thick–two sets would have been too much in the front.
